Dying Eggs

As most of you have noticed I’ve not written a whole lot of personal blogs lately.
I’ve been in so much pain that it’s hard to concentrate at times. So I’ve been doing a lot of book and movie reviews.

There was no school today for Easter break and I made the executive decision that it was a sleep in and wear your pj’s all day sorta day.  I think Emma was the only one who got dressed and she just threw on a shirt and a pair of sweats.

Yesterday was Easter so we colored some boiled eggs around 9:00pm……I was in so much pain yesterday that every movement was an effort.  But that pain thing is for another blog.

Sophie checking on her egg. Some colors took a bit longer to take then other colors.

P1020017

Sarah checking on her egg. She had a blast. So did Sophie and I enjoyed watching them dye their eggs. We did 11 eggs in all. We used a new kit that all we had to do is use 5ozs of warm water and the dye tablet, plus the kit came with glitter!!!! We are huge glitter fans in the house so of course it was a must get kit. Smile

Emma didn’t want to dye eggs but she did boil them for me. I guess being almost 14 makes ya to old for such things. Smile with tongue out

The final product. Most of the eggs were glittered. I think the last two were the only ones that didn’t get any glitter.

You can’t really see how sparkly and pretty they are from the pic but they were beautiful.

Defending Jacob

11367726

I recently finished reading this. I was pleasantly surprised with it. It was a book I hadn’t ordered, but my book club sent it to me.  Kinda hard to decline your featured book selection  when your in the hospital LOL.
Something about the book cover just drew me in. Yes I have judged my books by their covers. Nyah-Nyah

As you can probably tell by the name of the book it’s a murder mystery.  It makes you think how far would you go to defend your child? One parent whole heartedly believes without a doubt he’s innocent. The other parent not so much.   Can you imagine the strain on your marriage let alone your life?
This book walks you through the lives of this family, their ups and down. Imagine preparing for a murder trial for your 14yr old son. Going from being respected people in the community to social outcasts.
I wouldn’t say the book is intense but it is a good read so I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

Word of the Day

I subscribe to Word of the Day, I feel that we are never to old to stop learning. Most of the words I know, other times the words are so odd I’m like uhhh, yeah, ok….whatever.
Then there are times they are so unusual that make me giggle. Rolling on the floor laughing Today is one of those days.

Today’s word of the day is “cockalorum”. Call me juvenile but I bust out laughing when I read it. Smile with tongue out

Now for those of you who don’t know what it means here is the copy and paste of the definition.

cockalorumAudio Pronunciation\kah-kuh-LOR-um\

DEFINITION

noun

1:

a boastful and self-important person

2 :

boastful talk

EXAMPLES

No one believed Marty's cockalorum about being an expert pool player, and as it turned out, he was indeed just as bad as the rest of us.

"No one is saying Little Floyd is a conniving little cockalorum, but … he would very much like to add another belt to his legacy. It is with much certainty, on his part, that he will." — From an article by Paul Strauss on EastsideBoxing.com, August 6, 2011

If you click on the little speaker thing it will take you to a page where you can hear it pronounced.

Anyway…I thought the word was funny. *shrugs* I have a warped sense of humor though.

Enjoy your day/night everyone!

Well does it? *giggles*

19 Kids and Counting

I’m not sure how a lot of you feel about the show 19 Kids and Counting but I personally enjoy it.  I certainly don’t have their belief system, but you have to give them props for  the way their children are being raised and they are not mooching off the state, nor were they prior to their show.

Would I have 19 kids? No, even with my love for children.  I’m not going to judge them because they do. Nor did I judge them when they announced they were pregnant with number 20.  After all they went through when number 19 came along, even I was a little shocked number 20 was coming along.

If you haven’t seen the show it’s on TLC and it chronicles their day to day life.  Chaos and all. They even interview the children and hearing them and their opinions are heartwarming.

When I heard that the Duggers lost their baby in the 18th week my heart bled for them. So many were negative about it.  They’ve obviously never lost a child. With that being said I never thought they would show Michelle’s pregnancy or loss in the new season.
To my complete surprise they did cover her pregnancy no more then in her other pregnancies during the shows time. I was surprised to see the season finale showed the loss of their child.  Seeing Michelle’s and Jim Bob’s face when they found out at a much anticipated ultrasound there was no heartbeat.  Watching the children cry at the loss of a sibling, while their parents told them. It broke my heart.   The Memorial service and the burial. Was so heart wrenching.
It doesn’t matter if it’s your only child that passes or your 20th. It’s pain all the same.  It’s not something you “just get over” For all you haters out there, try and think in their shoes for just one moment. How would YOU feel?

Not everyone has the same belief system and that’s ok. Some don’t want any children while others may only want a small family or like me, my dream was to always have 6.
The Duggers believe that each child is a blessing and have chosen their path.

After watching the episode with Brian we discussed it and thought it would be a good idea to have Emma and Sophie watch it. To show them the value of life. That it’s not always about them.  Yes they were both in tears even if Sophie tried to hide it. But they both got the lesson we had hoped they would get.

I leave all of you with this. Don’t take the ones you love for granted, try and not judge others for the way they believe. If you have children enjoy each moment with them because they grow so quickly and before you know it they are grown and moved out of the house.

Marilyn

70202150

Anyone that knows me knows that I love anything and everything Marilyn.  So when I heard they had made a movie about her I just HAD to see it.  Unfortunately due to a illness and not enough money I wasn’t able to see it at the theater.  I used the word unfortunately when it should have been fortunately. I’m so glad I didn’t pay movie theater prices to see it and waited to see it when it came out on Netflix.
Now don’t get me wrong it wasn’t an awful movie and I knew in advance it wasn’t going to be showing her in the best of lights. I think in a nutshell it was the actress who portrayed her that ruined it for me.  Michelle Williams played the part of Marilyn and in my opinion did a crappy job at it. She didn’t look enough like her, she didn’t have her breathy voice down. I could go on and on why I thought she wasn’t a good choice for the part.

With all that being said, if you have nothing else to do on a rainy day or late at night, it IS worth a watch. Just don’t expect to much from it.  I gave it 3 out of 5 stars.

Lone Wolf

151360171

I recently finished reading Jodi Picoult’s newest book “Lone Wolf”. In all honesty I picked it up without reading what it was about, merely because I’m a fan of her work.

As I got into the book I realized that it wasn’t anywhere near what I thought it was about. None the less Jodi didn’t disappoint me. This book took a hold of you and took you deep into  several peoples lives. Gave you a deeper understanding of the wolf and their pack.

Shows one man’s journey of walking between man and wolf. There are some hard lessons to be learned here and it leaves you thinking with what would you have done?

I gave this book 4 out of 5 stars.  While it enticed me and I read it quickly I just didn’t feel like it was a 5 star book.
For those of you that are local this book is available at the Olin Library and I highly recommend it. You won’t be disappointed.

To The Moon And Back

SharonBlinX_TOTHEMOON_092607-18

The Girls and I always say I love you to the moon and back. So tonight I told Sarah I love you to the moon and back. She tells me the same thing. So I tell her I love her infinity. She again tells me the same thing. I said I love you always. She again repeats it. Finally I say I love everything about you. She goes ok mom seriously just stop it. Stop saying stuff.

I’m not feeling the love tonight. Winking smile

Emma and I sat and talked about the things I did as a teenager for about two hours. She wanted to hear more and more. I told her, “do you see why I say you cant’ get away with anything? I’ve been there done that” LOL

Then we started listening to some old school music. Some old Motley Crue, Joan Jett, Twisted Sister. Ahhhh them were the days.  So here I’m jamming and Emma said “Mom I want to show you a song.” She picks a friggin country song after all that good rock. Dierks Bentley’s “Home” LOL

I uploaded a video of Sarah dancing on Facebook tonight. LOL She has no rhythm poor girl. She definitely dances like a white girl. She’s only 4 so hopefully there will be a bit of hope for her in the future. Dance classes maybe? Winking smile

Sarah just came up to me and said “MOM, Guess just stepped on my foot” I told her Guess was a dog and didn’t mean to. She said all upset but Guess didn’t say sorry. So I had to explain to her that Guess is a dog and doesn’t know how to say sorry and that she honestly didn’t mean to step on her foot.  She wasn’t to happy about it but she seemed to accept it.

So now that I’ve rambled a bit about everything I’ll leave you with this.

Never EVER take Ex-lax and a sleeping pill at the same time.
