How to catch a puggle

How to catch a puggle.

I had made plans with Liz, two of her friends and Emma to go to the mall today. Not my favorite place to go in the world, but I dealt with it.

We made plans to leave here at 3:30 because I am NOT a morning or early afternoon sort of person.

Chels and Kelby arrive here as we are all going to go together in my van. Sophie and Sarah are all ready to go with their Dad, when Lilly gets loose. Now normally it’s not a problem when she gets loose. She runs to the machine shed then comes right back to the house and happily comes inside.

But not today! Oh no, today she decided to run around the yard and the pasture like a puppy on crack.   I was already in a bad mood from getting into an argument with Brian about something and this was just not making things any better.

So Lilly is running around. Chels and Emma are in one part of the yard and Kelby and Liz are out in the pasture trying to catch her. On a side note, I gotta give Kelby props for not only going out in the snow/ice in high heeled boots but for managing to not fall.

At this point I’m watching from the window and the 4 girls are just not able to catch her. So I thought to myself….self…Lilly really loves to play with Guess. If I put Guess on her leash and walk her to the pasture then maybe Lilly will come over and we can grab her.

So I put on my coat and mittens, get Guess hooked up to the leash and head outside. Guess see’s Lilly running around like a fool and instantly wants to run too.  There is a bunch of snow and ice and this dog is strong.  But I managed to keep a hold of her.  We step into the pasture in time to see Liz grabbing a hold of Lilly’s fat rolls and trying to pull her towards her.  Lilly managed to escape before Liz could get a really good grip on her.  The look on Liz’s face was funny so I giggled. Guess took that exact moment of my giggling to use a burst of energy and I lost my grip on her.

So here is Guess running after Lilly in the cow pasture. But she didn’t like the fact that the leash was trailing behind her so she stopped, picked up the leash with her mouth and then continued on with her run.  It looked like she was running herself with the leash in her mouth like that.

I was laughing so hard by this point it was unreal, well we were all laughing.  Guess kept tackling Lilly and wore her out in a matter of minutes and Liz was able to grab on to Lilly with no problems and get her in the house. But then we had another problem.  Guess was now on the loose and had no intentions of giving up her freedom any time soon.

Thank goodness Brian hadn’t left with the girls yet.  Guess  has always gone to him when he calls her.  So I asked Brian to please go over and call for Guess, which he did and she came right to him. She’s such a trader I tell you! LOL!!!!

So finally, Sophie and Sarah are with Brian going on about their business and the girls and I are ready for our jaunt to the mall.

The trip to the mall will be another blog as that alone was an adventure!

A typical Friday

It’s been a pretty calm day here on the homestead.

Sarah pretty much just stayed content with her toys today. I did keep the tv on and as long as Dora The Explorer stays on she seems pretty content to stay in the same room with the tv. Of course that is if I’m not doing something that spikes her interests.

You know you have a toddler in the house and that you’ve watched Dora one time to many when you start counting to 5 in Spanish instead of English.  When Dora says, say “Back Pack” and of course you find your self shouting “Back Pack”.   Yeah….I agree…I definitely need to get out more.

The kids came home all excited because the drug dog had been at school searching through lockers.  They found a pack of cigs and the person got 3 day in school suspension. Someone else got 10 day for having weed in their car. The talk of the town I guess.  While all the lockers were being searched none of the kids were allowed to be in the hallways. They were all on lock down in the class rooms.

They didn’t do any body searches which if you ask me is stupid. This is a school which do not allow locks on their lockers. So my guess is if a student had drugs with them it would be on their person and no in an un locked locker. But hey, what do I know?

As per Friday tradition we ordered pizza and watched a movie together.  The girls look forward to it every Friday.  Tonight we watched Alvin and the ChimpMunks…by the time it was over Sarah was walking around the house shouting “ALVIN”!

When the movie was over both Liz and Emma retired to their rooms for the night and Sophie put the same movie back in and laid down to watch it for a second time.  By the time the movie was over Sarah was cuddled up next to Sophie sound asleep. It was so cute!

Lilly

Image1445

So this is my daughters Puggle. For those of you that don’t know what a puggle is, it’s part beagle and part pug.  Her name is Lilly and she is 6 months old. While she is a wee bit spoiled there are still certain things she is not allowed to do.

The  above picture is showing one of the things she is NOT allowed to do. She is in fact sitting in my two year olds booster seat at the table.

I’m guessing she thought if she jumped up there and sat all pretty we would give her the “good” food.

Wrong Lilly! Now get down and be a good little puggle!

Doppelganger

So a friend of mine is doing whats called a Doppelganger. She showed a pic of celeb that she was told that she resembled and she really does look a lot like her. It’s amazing how close in looks they were.

I got to thinking well, I don’t think I look like anyone, other then myself. So another friend of mine said she thought maybe Rachel Ray….So I did one of the things I do best and that is google! Grabbed a pic of her off the internet so all you can tell me what YOU think.

I’m thinking not really.  But it’s a nice thought! LOL

So tell me who do YOU resemble?

5 for 5

The beginning of this month I signed up for a fun little project called 5 for 5.  The idea behind this is that  I will make something special for the first 5 people who replied to my post. But by replying they have to post the same and make 5 things for someone else. So on and so on.

The good thing about this is I have an entire year to figure out what I’m going to make and send. It can be anything at all as long as I make it…… I still have no idea at all what I’m going to make for the 5 that did sign up.  For those of you that know me well, know that I am no Susie Homemaker so this could get interesting.  Also, it doesn’t have to be the same thing for all 5 people. It’s all up to me. One the things I like best about it. I can really individualize each gift.

So a friend of mine is participating in this fun project and today I received her gift.  Sent  all the way from Finland.

She choose to hand knit some mittens for me in an old  Finnish traditional pattern. They are made out of 100% Lambs Wool. She picked such beautiful colors.

I tried them on and they are so warm. Perfect for the frigid winter we are having.  I look forward to wearing these for many years to come!

Thank you Eija you did an amazing job!

Unexpected Surprise

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged. Once again life has gotten away from me.

I got an unexpected package in the mail last week. It was from my good friend Kathy in NY. I bet your all wondering what was in the package. Well, I’m not only going to tell you. I took pictures too!!!

It’s a beautiful scarf! Hand made by her. I tried it on and it’s so nice and warm. A huge plus for this bitter winter we are having.
