Meet and Greet

It’s been a week today since the girls had their  Meet and Greet at school.  What is “Meet and Greet”? The day before school, you have the chance to go to the school, meet your teacher, see your childs room, and bring in their school supplies.  This saves a lot of jitters for the first day. They know where they are going and where their lockers are.

This year is was crazy hot outside. If I thought it was hot outside, it was about 20 degrees warmer in the school. I tell you my sweat was sweating. Goodness me.

Sophie’s teacher is brand new to Olin. She is from Iowa, but has been teaching in my home state of Kansas for the last 5 years. She’s very organized and she’s teaching the kids to be. She seems like she’s gonna fit in nicely around here and Sophie likes her so that’s a big bonus.

Of course as I’m talking to her about how I was born and raised where she had lived my southern accent comes out. I lived in Alabama for about 6 months many years ago and every now and again the accent comes back to haunt to me.  I normally don’t even know I’m doing it.
I thought Emma was going to die from laughter. Me, I was embarrassed. LOL. I apologized to the teacher and explained that sometimes it just happens. (face palm)

Last but  certainly not least. Emma is in the 7th grade this year. Geesh where have the years gone? No more recess for her.  She’s getting stuff out of her bookbag and putting it into her new locker. It’s a nice tall locker but it’s so skinny there just isn’t much room for anything.

Random 8/12/2011

It’s a new day. Most people are up and getting ready for work, depending on your time zone. Me, I haven’t been to sleep yet. Not from lack of trying, I assure you.  I have so many thoughts running through my head. 

I’m a firm believer in the power of 3.  Good and bad things seem to happen in 3’s.  June 29th I had my stroke, July 29th my Grandma had her stroke.  1 month to the day after mine.  Now I’m just waiting to see who the next person will be. I know a lot of you may be saying to yourselves, well if she’s set on it happening then it will.  Not so…..It’s from experience that I say this. All my life things good and bad have happened in 3’s. Even things that are not connected to me. 

Case in point, Amy Winehouse is found dead,  I think it’s been about a month give or take and now the ex lead singer from Warrant Jani Lane was found dead in his motel room last night.  I know there will be a 3rd.  I’ve never seen it happen in two’s.

If I know someone who is pregnant then I know 3 who are. Someone I know gets a new to them car and two more get a new to them car.

I’ve also been thinking about the world. What the heck is going on? I was astounded with the news of the riots over in the UK.  Floored, shocked, surreal, I could give you adjectives all day. 

There is so much tragedy and hardship going on every where.  I don’t think I’ve ever in my life seen so many people depressed, stressed, and so down and out.  We have to do something.  So I think to myself I’m but one person what can I do? Then I realized it only takes one person to start it, whatever “it” may be.
Am I rambling? Yes, and I know this. But these are the thoughts running through my head.

We as a country, as individual's have to make a stand and pay it forward. Do something nice.  If your not struggling with money, then don’t sell stuff, donate to people who really need it.   If you know someone who is sick offer to watch their kids, make a dinner. It doesn’t have to be big things. Remember it’s the little things in life that we take the most enjoyment in.

I remember when I was married to my first husband. We didn’t have much money and we had no furniture. Someone knew someone, who knew someone who were getting a new furniture set and we got a whole set for free. It was in good condition. A bit outdated but we were happy to have it.  Because of that one selfless act of a complete stranger I to look around for someone in need and pass on things. Sure I could make some money and yes I need it. But you know what? Being able to help someone who is worse off then myself does the heart good.  After I had Sophie I donated everything to a couple who had nothing for their baby.  I felt good about it.

These days I tend to see to many people being selfish. Why sell it when you can find a family who needs it and can’t afford even a small price?  With school getting ready to start here I see donation boxes set up all over for school supplies. In my little area I know a lot of people who don’t have the money for the basics let alone everything needed to start the school year off.  If you can afford it please donate something. Even if it’s just a box of pencils.  If it’s to late to donate for school supplies, but some and take them to a local school. Trust me with budget cuts the school need things too.
Every year our list grows longer as we have to buy supplies for the teacher as well. I see lots of people complaining about this. To me it’s a small price to pay for an education for my children. After all they ARE our future.

In closing, I also ask that each day you try and do something nice for someone. Smile at the check out person even if they are grumpy. Tell someone thank you for the simple things.

Pedi

Weds I went and got a much needed pedicure.  It’s my one of my weaknesses. Something about sitting in that massage chair and soaking my feet then getting them all pretty, makes for a happy Jamie.  I only do it once every couple of months, providing I can save the funds in order to do it. It’s only $20 but when you have kids and a bunch of medical bills $20 is a lot of money. 

I’m pretty sure it’s more expensive in other states but $20  seems to be the going rate for my area.

It’s hard to see the design on my big toe in this pic. But on the upper left corner are some lines and then a pretty flower. They are all very talented and their designs are hand drawn at the time of the pedicure.

For those of you who have never gotten one or its been awhile, I highly suggest you go and get  one.  I always feel so relaxed after one. Added bonus I feel pretty too even if no one sees my feet.

I’ll close the “Caption This” sometime this afternoon or the very latest tomorrow.

Randomness

TGIF, Family, Friends, and blogging buddies! Tis I your nocturnal (insert relationship here)

I enrolled the girls in school today……..errrr your yesterday and my today since I’ve not been to bed yet. I swear it costs an arm and leg just to register them not even including school supplies and school clothes. OY!

I finally called my doc today…..remember today = your yesterday. Anyway…I called today to see if they had gotten the results from my EEG. The nurse goes no one called you? Sighs….Seriously? Would I be calling you if someone had called with the results? I was nice and only thought it this time instead of blurting it out. See…..I’m getting better, social filter is starting to work again. I just pleasantly said no.  She said all appeared normal. Woohooo! Now if anyone says get your brain checked there is something wrong with you, I can honestly say I have an there is nothing wrong. I’ve been deemed “normal” by the doctors. bwhahahahaha….I know what ya’ll are thinking. If SHE’S normal what does that make us? *giggles*

Zoey has recently begun to “steal” my computer chair when I get up. I was lucky enough to capture the little thief in action.

Look at her sitting there like she owns it. Sighs….when I tell her to get down she MEOW’s very loudly and if looks could kill I wouldn’t be writing this blog right now that’s for dang sure. I think she’s calling me a bitch.  Look at her….She’s all “Bitch Please” hurmph…AS IF!

I had an odd thought today driving home from enrolling the girls. I know, I know, ME having an odd thought. What a novelty. Anyway….I saw a cop pulling over a car. By the time the cop got to the window the person that had been pulled over had their arm out the window with license and registration. They must be used to being pulled over. Back to my thought……ya’ll know how I LOVE to take pics. I was thinking I’ve never gotten a ticket before. What would I do if I ever got one? Then a light bulb came on in my head. I would ask the cop to pose for a pic with me. Ya’ll know I would do it too!

Things that go Bump in the Night

It’s all quiet through out the house. Guess is sleeping on the floor behind me. (She keeps a good watch over me.) All the kids are sleeping.  Ahhhh time to finally relax. Just me, some tunes on my ipod, and playing around on facebook.  When all of a sudden I feel tap tap tap on my forearm. WTF is that?!!! I jump a mile. Well what would you do if everyone is sleeping and YOU felt a tap on YOUR forearm? That’s right you would jump a mile too! I cautiously look to my right and what do my wandering eyes do I see. But two cat eyes looking at me as Zoey is standing on her hind legs trying to get my attention. Talk about relief!!!
I gave Zoey her much needed attention and went back to facebook.

Now what! Ugh, tummy started hurting. Oh, I better get the bathroom IBS is flaring up and it’s flaring up NOW! I get all situated in for the long haul. Oh hush ya’ll, I know you guys do the same.
Now as if I hadn’t already read a bit of TMI here’s some more for you. I’m extremely claustrophobic so when I can, I leave the door open but it’s always at least cracked open a bit unless we have company.  Now, the reason I’m giving you this piece of info is so you can understand the next bit.

Tap Tap again, this time Zoey followed me to the bathroom and is tapping my leg. I pet her for a second and in comes Guess. Sighs….Seriously?…..So while trying to take care of some back door business I’m crammed in this small room with a cat and a large dog. Goddess help me!!!!

I whipped out my trusty cell and took pics of them. Well what would you have done?

So there is Zoey giving me the ole stink eye. Pardon the pun. See how close she is to me? UGH!

Then there is Guess. Her head is by the door and part of her body is laying on me feet. Sighs…I know, if I close the door they would be waiting for me on the other side of the door instead of inside this incredibly small bathroom with me.
I finally finished up my business in the bathroom and sat down to the pc. Ahhh, finally Facebook time!

THEN!!!!!!!

As if the tap tap of Zoey earlier wasn’t enough I hear boom, boom, boom, like someone is banging on the back door. But I’m out in the country. WTH is that?

I get up to investigate. My trustworthy side kicks didn’t join me this time. Thanks guys. Geesh! My heart is pounding pretty hard. I have my phone in my hand in case I might need to call someone.  Yeah….It was the stinkin’ dryer. Why did it make that noise is beyond me. I think maybe it’s dying.  I didn’t need to call anyone to port the big bad dryer off to jail.

Now I’m back at the pc writing this blog. Dryer is off, animals back in their places. Now I am ready for bed and I never got to play on facebook.
