Lessons learned

About a week ago Emma comes into the dinning room caring my car keys and she dangles them before me and says '”Missing something” As soon as I saw them in her hand I knew where she found them.

I knew instantly I had left them in my pocket which I never ever normally put them in there to begin with. Not only did I leave them in my pocket but they went through the wash………Now I know what ya’ll are thinking, so what, they are just keys……This is true except my van has a keyless entry. The little thing a ma bober that you push to unlock and lock went through the wash too.

So silly me didn’t take it off the key chain, didn’t want to break a nail trying to get it off. Yeah, I know, totally a girl move.  Remember the title of this blog is called “Lessons Learned” well this is what happens when it goes through the wash and you try and drive your van the next day.

It was a day that started out like any other day.  Did some normal household stuff and got Sarah ready to go with me to get my blood work done that I have to get done every 6 weeks.

I approach the van and automatically pushed the unlock button on my key chain. Nothing happened. I remembered then, oh shoot, it went through the wash. So I unlocked the van the old fashioned way, with key inserted into the lock on the door.  How utterly cave manish I know!

I get the van unlocked and start to walk around to the other side so I can put Sarah into her car seat and the van locks by it’s self.  I’m thinking what the…I walk back around and unlock the van again. There is only one lock on the outside of the van and it’s on the drivers side. Sarah’s car seat is on the passengers side. So I would get to Sarah’s door and the thing would lock. This happened about 7 times before I was able to get Sarah into the car seat.

While driving to the hospital I hear the locks locking and unlocking…and I still didn’t get a clue.

I reached around and took Sarah out from my side so I didn’t have the circus of running around again while in public.

Did the blood work, went to Wal-Mart, all is going well.  As we are leaving Wal-Mart I notice that my van is locking, unlocking, the tiny beep of the horn and the lights flashing. You know how it does when you lock it? I STILL didn’t get a clue. Got Sarah into her car seat with no problems and on the road to CR I went.  I could hear the locking and unlocking of the doors the whole way there. But I was like hmm…odd. Yep…still no clue.

I went to visit Marc and by the time I left it was late and dark.  The roads are quiet, I’m trucking along on the highway when all of a sudden I hear the doors locking and unlocking, the tiny beep of the horn and the lights flashed. I’m thinking omg no, are we serious. Is this really happening to me?

So I’m driving down the highway at night hearing, click, click, honk, click, click, honk.  Then I had a bright idea. Lets pull into McDonalds and get some fries. Ordered them, paid for them and I'm waiting at the second window. Click, click, honk. click, click, honk.  The guy comes to the window and says “Ma’am your order will be done soon, we are just waiting on some fresh fries”. OMG, he thinks I’m honking at him.  I said oh now worries and he just kinda looked at me. I was like I was really not honking something is wrong with the van. He just gave me that look, you know the smile and nod one, then again said the fries would be done soon. By this time I’m looking for a hole  that will swallow me and this blasted van up and thinking hurry up fries I wanna get out of here.

Finally Goddess granted me my freedom via having my order. I was outta there with lightening speed.

The whole way home I hear click, click, honk. I thought for sure I was gonna get pulled over.  Luckily I made it home without getting pulled over. Ran for the safety of my home and prayed that it didn’t do it all night long.

The next morning I took that blasted thing off of my key chain. So the moral of the story is don’t put off until tomorrow what you can do today or you it may be YOU hearing click, click, honk driving 70 down the highway in the dark.
