I Pledge Allegiance

image001

The above cartoon was sent to me the other day and it really says so much.  I can remember every morning in school we said the pledge of allegiance as soon as the bell rang.

I recently found out my 8yr old doesn’t even know it all the way.  So tell me how on earth is keeping this out of or schools doing us as American’s any good? What happened to respect?  To me it’s not only disrespectful to America it’s disrespectful to those who have served our country. There is no draft, our men and women are joining because they want to make things better.

This doesn’t mean I support the war, that is a whole different blog. But I DO and always WILL support our soldiers. My oldest son is on his second tour in Iraq right now.  I’m so proud of him that I am always telling everyone that will listen that he’s in the Army, doing his second tour in Iraq as a combat medic. (See, how I slipped that in ;) )

Does my son want to be over in Iraq right now? Heck no. But he does it because thats his job.  He does it without complaining and does what is needed of him.

I proudly fly my flag outside every day and it bothers me to see so many houses without flags.

I implore everyone to go to the store and buy a flag. It doesn’t have to be a big one, it can be a small one. For those in apts or in houses where they can’t mount something to the side of the house to put the flag on. Get a little one and put it in your window. Put one in your garden. I don’t care what you do but show that your proud to be an American. That my son is not over there for nothing. That the friends he’s lost in this awful war was not for nothing.

Do YOU remember every word to the Pledge of Allegiance?
