Last Friday I was chatting on the phone when something caught my attention out of the corner of my eye.
I was like what in the world is it? I looked again and I thought wtf..no way. So I did a double take and yep it IS what I thought. There was horse in my yard looking in my window. I said ummm Justin there is a horse in our yard. You better go round him up and get him back where he belongs.
So outside we go, me with camera in hand.
By the time we got out there the horse had moved on to other parts of the yard. Justin went over to pet it and was like I don’t know how to get him to go home. He said I need a cowboy hat, I told him we didn’t have one, he said wait, let me go get a cigarette it’s the closet thing I have to a cowboy. So he went running inside to get a cancer stick and lite it on his way back to the horse.
While Justin was talking to the horse trying to figure out how to get him back where he belongs I told Emma to go get our neighbor that was in charge of their care, because neither Justin nor I had a clue how to get him back home.
About that time all the other horses saw their buddy was out and said hey now I want out too.
Now the adventure starts. As you can see they had all pretty much broke out at this point. They went running down to the neighbors down the road. I’ll give them this they did all stay together.
Once they all broke loose the neighbor that was watching them was here and trying his best to get what he needed to gather them up.
The owners of the horses showed up at the exact time that they all went in up the drive to the house up the road.
They had been in a horrible motorcycle accident just 6 weeks prior and this was their first visit home. Note I said visit. They weren’t even allowed to stay as they have much more healing to do. Not a welcome homecoming for them thats for sure.
So by now we have Justin, two neighbors and some random stranger trying to get these horses back where they belong. Oh, lets not forget our dog Guess. The horses ran all the way down to the end of the road which is about a mile before they were caught.
After what seemed like an eternity I see them all coming back with the horses a few went home like good little horses but there were a few that were not quite ready to give up their freedom. They came back into my yard.
You can see Guess in front of the horses. She was trying to round them up. I guess she was a big help in getting them back home. She kept running around them barking and redirecting them. Kinda cool to see it in action.
Here is the dog of the hour all worn out from working so hard. LOL
They did manage to get the horses back where they belonged and all ended well.
I felt really sorry for Melody (the neighbor that had been in the accident) She wasn’t supposed to be running around and here she was trying to get these horses rounded up. She looked so white, I was afraid she was gonna pass out. I really hope that all that running around didn’t set her back any in her recovery.
It’s not every day you see a horse looking at your through your window!
